Alejandra Oquendo

Hello, I'm Alejandra Oquendo a Philanthropic Finance Student at the University of Southern California.

Upon graduating High School Alejandra Oquendo was too eager to dive into the working world and bypassed the traditional college path most of her peers followed. Over the course of her corporate and entrepreneur work experience, she slowly developed a hunger for education, knowledge, and subsequently a true passion for learning. Currently Alejandra Oquendo is a Business student at the University of Southern California. At a young age Alejandra Oquendo worked in the corporate world as a Web Developer and than Project Manager, like many in the Internet field she was self-taught. Most notably, Alejandra Oquendo worked at Disney Online. In 2001, after the dotcom bubble burst, Alejandra Oquendo was laid off and freelanced as a web developer. As a result of loving to brainstorm businesses ideas and discussing ways to improve products, she took her passion of importing eclectic, handmade items and launched a retail business on eBay. While running the business, Alejandra developed a profound need for knowledge specifically in business matters. Regrettably, she was so consumed working day and night to keep business running that she never made the time to pursue her formal education. Once Alejandra Oquendo realized the eBay market became over-saturated, she decided to go to college so she could learn the fundamental tools in business. Alejandra Oquendo has realized that fighting for a better life is rewarding yet challenging, but all great things are worth fighting for. Due to all her work and life experiences, she has learned that the challenges we face in life are opportunities that make us stronger. Alejandra Oquendo has learned that if one is to achieve significant changes in the community, we must either make large contributions as individuals or unite to make smaller individual efforts as a communal force. Alejandra firmly believes by living the life we aspire to achieve, we can inspire others to do the same. It is important to aspire for greatness, reach for the stars and inspire others to do the same. Alejandra Oquendo believes the things she does for herself are short lived whereas the things she does for others will last indefinitely. Through all her work and life experiences, she has earned the confidence that her dreams are achievable with hard work and discipline.
